Wow what an Open water this year. The jury chose an amazing group of National water colours and then awarded my painting both the Charles Comfort Medal for excellence in figurative work accompanied by the Swinton's Award.
Paper Rose is an image inspired by one of my wonderful models. One day the model came over and we had fun crunching paper and taping it onto her as if it were a high end blouse. The imagery deals with the concepts of fragility, facades and pretences as they relate to our media and our youth.
Hi, Jean. I just had to check in and see what you've been doing -- busy lady. I've had lots of things going on, too. I coordinated workshops by Gerald Brommer and Betsy Dillard Stroud. Next up is Mryna Wacknov's figurative workshop. I look forward to that one.
ReplyDeleteI love your amazing award-winner. You are just awe-inspiring.
Cheers,

Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you again I have been busy but have a bit of time now to settle down and get ready for the holidays and New Year. My DVD should finally be ready in February at CCVP out of Oregon.
Sounds like you have been having fun with all of those artists that have been teaching in your area. I think that you will really have a good time in Mryna's class.
Bes,
Jean
Hi Jean-I absolutely LOVE your work-it is so rich and stunning...words fail me! I have your book Expressive Portraits and am learning so much from it. Congrats on this most recent award-beautiful and powerful-as always!
ReplyDeleteHi LJ,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment. It is all about leaving your whites. I have a video now available through Creative Catalyst. Visit my store in the left navigation and you can view a preview of it.
Hope to hear from you again!
Best,
Jean
Hi, Jean,
ReplyDeleteI have your book and I am trying out your techniques with enthusiasm. I ordered your DVD from your website over a month ago but haven't yet received it. Is there some problem with the computer order? I am looking forward to getting it and actually seeing you paint. Would love to take a workshop with you. Morris Eaddy, Pensacola, Fla. e-mail morriseaddy@cox.net Thanks!
Hi, Jean,
ReplyDeleteI have your book and am trying the exercises that you suggest. I cannot tell by the pictures or the print if your paper is tilted or flat when you apply the watercolor. My e-mail address is Beles1147@Yahoo.com
Thank you, Ellen Leslie
